Pinot bianco / Pinot blanc / Weissburgunder

Pinot bianco - Pinot blanc in French – is a mutation of Pinot noir. They carry the same genes, only differing in colour. The grape originally comes from Burgundy, but is hardly grown there anymore.
Where it grows:
in the Alpine region: Southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol
in Italy it can be found in a variety of sparkling wines
What it tastes like:
light and fresh with hints of citrus, melon, pear and apricot as well as floral notes
What it goes with:
spaghetti carbonara
risotto
creamy soups
quiche
...in other words: with anything creamy!
