«We protect the earth and respect its natural rhythm.» These are the words with which the Tasca Winery in Sicily welcomes visitors to its website. An empty promise? By no means: Since 2010, Tasca has held the «SOStain» mark of sustainability, which the Conti Tasca d’Almerita even co-founded. The five Conti Tasca d’Almerita wineries in Sicily, including Tascante at the foot of Mount Etna, and the neighbouring island of Salina, are also regarded as model wineries. «We use all available techniques and knowledge to prevent damage to the soil, flora, fauna and the entire ecosystem», says the innovative winegrowing family. They completely do away with chemical and technical methods that could be harmful and instead rely on manual labour and environmentally friendly methods.
