San Leonardo

Rebflächen zwischen den Dolomiten der Tenuta San Leonardo im Trento

Marchese Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga of the San Leonardo winery has fallen in love with the Bordeaux grape varieties.

Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga is a man with a vision. And exacting standards. When he breathed new life into San Leonardo in the 1970s, he was guided by the example of Sassicaia. Today, his flagship organic farm, now run by his son Anselmo, enjoys the highest national and international recognition.

The estate’s flagship, the aristocratic Bordeaux blend San Leonardo, regularly wins Gambero Rosso’s coveted three glasses and has the authors raving about it: «Once again much praise for the San Leonardo, which, thanks to its vitality, complexity, elegance and harmony, maintains supremacy among Trentino wines (yet not only those).» Initially, it was star oenologist Giacomo Tachis who, together with the Marchese, defined the wine estate’s style. Since 1999, another great in his field, Carlo Ferrini, has been entrusted with vinification.
