Domaine Jacques Prieur

Der Hauptsitz der Domaine Jacques Prieur

Excellent vineyards and a focus on quality are the hallmarks of Domaine Jacques Prieur.

«One of the most remarkable estates in Burgundy», asserts Stephen Brook in the wine encyclopaedia «Hugh Johnson’s Wine Companion». And it is only logical that Brook, who has been writing for Decanter for years, lists Domaine Jacques Prieur in first place in his «Top Three» Meursaults. Domaine Jacques Prieur, whose roots in Meursault date back to the 18th century, boasts an impressive portfolio of magnificent vineyards. Covering a total of 22 hectares between Montrachet and Chambertin, they include nine Grands Crus, 14 Premiers Crus and one Meursault Village.

Two perfectionists on the road to success

The secret to this success lies in the confluence of two perfectionists: Martin Prieur, grandson of Jacques Prieur and Sales Director, shares the running of the business with Edouard Labruyère (Directeur général). Since 1990, the vinification of the noble crus has been the responsibility of the talented winemaker Nadine Gublin. She creates powerful, well-extracted reds and whites of mesmerising intensity. The house of Prieur has long had a reputation as a top producer. Strict quality measures have enabled the business to keep raising standards, so that the wines made by Prieur today are among the very best of the entire Burgundy region. They present as classic-modern, vibrant in colour, dense, powerful and complex. And they take time to develop their potential.
