It’s a well-known fact that deep roots produce good wine. The roots of the Conti Zecca, an old Puglian noble family, go back 500 years in Salento; for over 80 years they have been making their own wine there in Leverano. Today, the family owns 320 hectares of vineyards, divided into four estates, or tenute. This gives them a wealth of choice at harvest time: Should they create a quaffable Primitivo or a lively Negroamaro? Or perhaps a top-calibre wine with a proportion of Cabernet like the Nero?
